USS Oriskany

Beginner thru Advanced
USS Oriskany Island @ 80-90 feet
Note: Hurricane Gustav caused the ship to sink an additional 10 feet from its original deployment depth. The depths below reflect this change. (888 foot decommissioned aircraft carrier approx 24 miles off shore from Pensacola. Located in 212 feet of water. The top of the carrier island is at ~80 feet. The flight deck is located at ~145 feet. The hanger deck is ~ 177 feet. Visibility is usually in the excellent range of 50 - 100+ feet. Due to the depth and range from shore caution should be used in diving this site as there can be intense currents at the surface and/or at depth. Most charter companies in the area require either Advanced or Deep certification and a minimum number of dives. )     Lat: N 30° 02.550'  Lon: W 087° 00.383'
USS Massachusetts Intermediate
(Turn of the Century US Navy Battleship, brought to Pensacola in the 1920’s and scuttled in shallow water as an artillery target. Approximately 2 miles SSW of Pensacola Pass. Depths range 20 –45’. Named an underwater archaeological preserve in 1992. Remains of the gun turrets can often be seen above the water.

Note: The can be an unpredictable and often difficult dive because of its close proximity to Pensacola Pass, the "Mass" is subject to strong currents and poor visibility. Dives must be planned closely around the tides. )
