Brian Draper - SSI Master Diver
When my wife purchased the OpenWater training course for me
she figured it would just be “something that I liked” and didn’t figure I’d
really take that much interest in it. She didn’t realize that I’d end up
getting hooked and try to go diving every time I got a chance. I try to get
a couple dives in each month.
The idea for this show came out one day when my wife and I
were out on our boat cruising around. I started talking about diving like I
usually do when she told me about an idea for a show. I thought I needed
more training before I could pitch the idea of a show. Since then neither of
us have thought much more about the idea other than “oh wouldn’t that be
cool.”
When I completed my Master Diver rating I figured it was time
to give the show idea a try. So I’ve been working on obtaining sponsorship,
planning how I’m going to produce the show. I’ve been practicing recoding
video and editing it in the style that I plan on using for the show.
In the beginning I’m planning on using my HP Photosmart
Digital Camera, to do my filming. After the episodes are filmed and edited I
plan to post them to Google Video and several other locations as well as
supply a link on this website. I’m going to start small using the equipment
that I have and expand as I gain sponsorship. One day I hope to have the
show picked up on a TV network.
I know there are plenty of divers just like myself who'd love
to be able to see actual video from all the different dive sites in Florida.
My goal is to give divers a bit of information about each site and then show
them what the site actually looks like. It's hard to get an idea about
whether or not you want to travel to dive a site when the only thing you
have is a couple sentences describing the site and maybe a single picture.
I'm envisioning having sponsors help with the production costs of the show. Currently, everything is coming out of my pocket. Sponsors will be thanked in the show credits showing logos with text denoting the type of sponsorship. Of course I hope there will be sponsors that will provide financial assistance with travel and charters. If a charter agrees to take me out for free I' d be willing to list them as a sponsor for that particular episode.
